5 Malawian refs assigned CAF tourney matches
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed five Malawian referees to officiate preliminary round matches of the 2026/27 CAF inter-club competitions.
The match officials are Easter Zimba, Samuel Fudzulani, Lameck Mbuluma Phiri, David Chinoko and Sibusiso Sibande.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) referees development manager Duncan Lengani said in an interview that centre referee Zimba will handle a CAF Confederation Cup match between Una FC of Namibia and Kabuscorp de Palanca of Angola on September 5 at Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola.
He will be assisted by Fudzulani and Phiri while Chinoko will be the fourth official.
Chinoko will also be the centre referee in the CAF Champions League match between Foresters FC of Seychelles and Wiliete de Benguela of Angola on September 10 at Estádio Nacional da Tundavala in Lubango, Angola with Sibande as assistant referee and Zimba as the fourth official.
In an interview yesterday, Zimba said he was grateful to CAF for considering him for the continental duties.
“This is a great opportunity for me to showcase my refereeing skills on the continental stage. I am thankful to CAF for this,” he said.
Lengani yesterday said the appointments underline the continued recognition of Malawian match officials by CAF for continental assignments.
“This recognition proves that Malawi’s football transformation agenda is working,” he said.
